Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the PadKeys iPad app, the PadKeys Helper apps for laptop computers, and the PadKeys website. PadKeys is designed to turn your iPad into a full-screen keyboard and lightweight trackpad for your own laptop.
PadKeys is built around direct local-network pairing. We do not operate a PadKeys account system for helper pairing, and PadKeys is not designed to collect, store, or upload the content you type.
Information we process
PadKeys may process the following information depending on how you use the app, helper, and website:
- Local app settings: app language, keyboard language, target platform, trackpad sensitivity, key sound settings, keyboard design settings, trial state, and similar preferences stored on your device.
- Pairing information: helper connection details encoded in the helper QR code and used by your iPad to connect to your own laptop on the local network.
- Input events: keyboard and pointer events sent from your iPad to the paired helper while connected.
- Purchase information: product ID, entitlement state, and purchase validation information handled through Apple StoreKit.
- Support information: your email address and message content if you contact us by email.
- Website logs: basic server logs that may include request time, IP address, user agent, requested URL, response code, and similar technical information.
Local pairing and input events
PadKeys connects your iPad and your laptop over your own local network. The helper app on your laptop shows a QR code, and the iPad scans it to connect directly to that helper. PadKeys does not require a PadKeys cloud account for helper pairing.
While connected, PadKeys sends keyboard and pointer events from your iPad to the paired helper on your laptop so the helper can type, move the pointer, click, or scroll. These events are sent directly to the paired helper over your local network. PadKeys does not receive or store those keyboard and pointer events on PadKeys servers.
Purpose of processing
We process information only for the following purposes:
- to connect your iPad to your own laptop helper;
- to send keyboard, pointer, click, and scroll input to the paired helper;
- to save your local app settings and improve the setup experience;
- to provide the 14-day trial and PadKeys Pro entitlement through Apple StoreKit;
- to respond to support requests;
- to maintain website security, reliability, and abuse prevention;
- to comply with legal obligations and respond to disputes or valid requests.
Permissions
PadKeys asks for permissions only where they are needed for setup or input control:
- Camera: used on iPad to scan the helper QR code.
- Local Network: used on iPad so PadKeys can connect to the helper on your laptop.
- macOS Accessibility: used by PadKeys Mac Helper so it can send keyboard and mouse input to your Mac.
- Windows Firewall / private network access: used so your iPad can reach PadKeys Helper on your own network.
Information PadKeys does not collect
PadKeys does not require a PadKeys account, does not collect precise location, does not use tracking cookies in the app, and does not use third-party analytics SDKs in the app. PadKeys is not designed to read, store, or upload the content you type. Do not use support email to send passwords, private documents, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or other sensitive information unless we specifically ask for information needed to solve a support issue.
Purchases
PadKeys offers a 14-day free trial that starts after the first successful connection. After the trial, PadKeys Pro is available as a one-time lifetime purchase inside the iPad app. Purchases are handled by Apple through StoreKit. The PadKeys website does not process payments and does not offer a web checkout.
Third-party services
PadKeys may rely on third-party services only where needed to operate the app, helper, website, or purchase flow:
- Apple: App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, purchase restoration, and entitlement validation.
- Operating systems: iPadOS, macOS, and Windows permission systems used for camera, local network, Accessibility, firewall, and input control.
- Website hosting provider: hosting, delivery, security, and basic server logs for the PadKeys website.
- Email provider: receiving and responding to support messages sent to our contact email.
We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
Website
The PadKeys website does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. The website hosting provider may process basic server logs, such as request time, IP address, user agent, and requested URL, for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
Retention and deletion
Local app settings remain on your device until you change them, reset the app, or uninstall PadKeys. Purchase records are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies. Support emails may be retained for a reasonable period for customer support, recordkeeping, legal compliance, and dispute handling. Website server logs are retained by the hosting provider for security and reliability purposes according to the provider's retention practices.
You may request deletion of support messages you sent to us by contacting us at the email below. We may retain information where required or permitted by law, such as for dispute resolution, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal compliance.
Your choices and rights
You can stop PadKeys local input processing by disconnecting from the helper, quitting the app, or uninstalling PadKeys. You can revoke iPad camera or local-network permission in iPad Settings. You can revoke helper permissions in macOS System Settings or Windows network/firewall settings. You can request access, correction, or deletion of support information you provided to us by email.
Children
PadKeys is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Security
PadKeys is designed around direct local-network pairing and minimal data handling. You should use PadKeys only on networks and laptops you trust, and you should grant helper permissions only to the official PadKeys Helper downloaded from the PadKeys website.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page.
